November 8, 2011

P.M. UPDATE: Drug disposal site available

— The Muskogee Community Anti-Drug Network and the Muskogee Police Department will be coordinating the American Medicine Chest Challenge in Muskogee, according to a media release.

The event will take place Saturday in communities across the country. This initiative will challenge Muskogee residents to take the Five-Step American Medicine Chest Challenge:

• Take inventory of your prescription and over-the-counter medicine.

• Lock your medicine chest.

• Dispose of your unused, unwanted, and expired medicine at Muskogee prescription drug disposal site, located in the lobby of the Muskogee Police Department.

• Take your medicine(s) exactly as prescribed.

• Talk to your children about the dangers of prescription drug abuse.

Expired and unused medicines can be deadly in the wrong hands. Area residents are encouraged to remove all expired, unneeded or unused medicines from their homes and bring them to Muskogee Police Department lobby for proper and safe disposal. The disposal box is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
