A medicine-collection effort Saturday in downtown Loveland collected 118 pounds of a variety of expired and unneeded medicines from local residents.

In the collection, part of the American Medicine Chest Challenge, the Loveland Reporter-Herald worked with the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, Loveland Home Depot, Loveland Kiwanis Club, Home Instead Senior Care, Good Day Pharmacy and Banner Health Prescription Assistance Program.

The medications will be incinerated.
